Mike Tomon, President, Houston Texans
The Houston Texans are taking a bold approach to the future of sports-anchored development with Toro District, an 83-acre sports and entertainment destination planned for Bridgeland in Northwest Harris County. At the heart of the development will be the Texans’ new headquarters, a 175,000-plus-square-foot complex featuring an indoor fieldhouse and three outdoor NFL training fields. Beyond football, the fieldhouse is designed to accommodate nearly 16,000 attendees for major events, while the broader district will encompass nearly two million square feet of planned office, retail, restaurant, healthcare, sports medicine, hospitality and residential space. Developed through a partnership involving the Texans, Howard Hughes Communities and Harris County, Toro District is envisioned as a vibrant destination that will serve the region throughout the year.
Mike Tomon, President of the Houston Texans, will share the vision behind this ambitious undertaking and how the organization is approaching the intersection of sports, real estate and community development. The discussion will explore the strategy behind creating a premier training and performance environment while helping establish an entirely new sports and entertainment district, including the role of public-private collaboration, the integration of complementary uses and the long-term opportunity for regional economic growth. The project offers a compelling look at how an NFL franchise can help shape a destination with a lasting impact on its surrounding community.
